Jennifer Lopez initially got the ‘ick’ from Diddy when they first met

Multihyphenated star Jennifer Lopez’s past relationship with  Sean “Diddy” Combs has come under scrutiny following his recent arrest on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. The two dated from 1999 to 2001, and their connection is now being examined in light of the allegations against Diddy. The 54-year-old rapper is currently being held at the Metropolitian Detention Center in New York, after being denied bail twice. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Recently, a clip from an old interview with Lopez resurfaced online in which she discussed her relationship with the music mogul. Initially, she admitted that she “didn’t like” the founder of Bad Boys Records, but her feelings eventually changed.
“At first I didn’t like him at all. I didn’t,” Jennifer revealed in the interview. “I thought he was like ick. I didn’t like him because…Sean and I were very different..”
She went on to explain that she was very “family-oriented and the marrying type,” contrasting with the early stages of their relationship.
“When we first worked together on the video, I was married. Even though I was going through problems. Nobody knew that,” she revealed.Prior to her relationship with Diddy, she had a brief marriage to Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998, but by 1999 she was romantically involved with the rapper, reports the Mirror US.”Once I got to know him, and we became friends first… we developed this bond,” the Selena star shared. “We both understood where we were at that time in our lives and we both knew nobody understood exactly how we felt.”
Towards the end of the clip, the Bronx-born actress opened up about the night she and Diddy were arrested following a club shooting in New York in 1999. Reflecting on her arrest, Jennifer said: “So I’m sitting there, being handcuffed to a bench. I do remember feeling the comfort of someone caring about you enough…that they just want to make it okay..”
In December of that, Diddy, Jennifer, and his Bad Boy Records artist Moses “Shyne” Barrow found themselves embroiled in a nightclub shooting incident in NYC.Jennifer and Diddy were arrested, detained, and spent 14 hours in jail after authorities discovered a stolen gun in the car they used to flee the scene.
Jennifer was swiftly released and exonerated of all charges. However, Diddy and Shyne faced charges related to gun possession.

While Diddy was acquitted, a New York jury found Shyne guilty of five charges, although he was acquitted of attempted murder.Barrow received a ten-year prison sentence in 2001 and was deported to his native Belize upon his release. Barrow, who now serves as Leader of the Belize United Democratic Party recently opened about his relationship with his former mentor and his time behind bars following Diddy’s own arrest. “One of the things that I would never wish on my worst enemy is to be incarcerated,” he said during a news conference. “So I take no joy in anyone’s challenges whether with the criminal justice system or otherwise.
“But I’d just like to clarify – you have to be truthful in the description of the relationship,” he continued. “This is someone who in essence testified against me when I was on trial, when I was an 18-year-old kid just wanting to do nothing other than make my mother proud and make Belize proud and do what all of us want to do: be recognised for our talent and take over the world.”This is someone who destroyed my life.”
Diddy and his legal team continue to vehemently maintain his innocence.
